Hectic day

1. The launch of my project website seemed imminent, but more testing revealed that the baseline survey isn't properly attached, and I ended up having to call our data analyst on his cell phone, because he only works part-time and was off living the rest of his life when our testing came to a screeching halt. So maybe Monday... maybe not.
2. The next hectic element was the NIH proposal due on Thursday. I followed up a bunch of loose ends, and the main thing remaining is just the one page "Introduction to Revised Application" where I summarize the changes since last time. Tomorrow, maybe.
3. Then, of course, we were planning a barbecue in honor of
jmermin, and that involved shopping and cleaning and rearranging. I made a point of cleaning up my front porch (finding a Large Spider and then a Very Large Spider in the process), because we expected J's boss to show up, but she had a headache and went home early from work today and had to cancel. Other people's schedule conflicts meant that the only guests were C. and her family, and J's coworker (another C) who is about to move to Portland. We could have been a lot more relaxed about it all. It was fun, with C. and JM discussing issues in math teaching, and then some interesting conversations about the real-life social aspects of role-playing evil characters.
Afterwards I went on a long twilight walk and got to hear a pair of owls. Tomorrow they're all going to go play Magic, and I can write stuff and clean stuff and maybe, possibly, even relax.
