Happy Thanksgiving!

eve_primeWe had turkey breast, mashed potatoes, carrots, biscuits, cranberry sauce for J, and apple pie. Simple and good. D. made the biscuits! I stood next to him to answer questions, and I took them out of the oven when they were done. He did the rest.
For our Thanksgiving movie, we watched Pacific Rim. Entertaining, sure, despite the blatant formula. I’d already heard that it didn’t pass the Bechdel test, but at least the one female main character was competent and not over-sexualized. I was more annoyed by the scientists. Humanity is in crisis, and all they could come up with were these two comic-relief dudes? And, um, no physicians involved in the testing? I guess I think the “ragtag crew of misfits” trope seems pretty forced when they’ve got hundreds of extras standing around.
(Sorin did not like the movie – he’s sensitive to all sorts of noise. Ajani was fine except when one of the kaiju roared like a lion.)
D. watched an anime series last night that he really enjoyed, and today he announced, “I feel happy today!” He attributed it to the series, which he then began watching all over again. (He’s always pretty upbeat, but I can’t recall hearing him remark on it before.)
