If a person had the patience, they could gaze up at Jupiter and watch for the Leonid meteor shower. The sky is very clear, but that’s because it’s very cold, hence the problem mustering patience. Anyway, I saw a meteor over near Jupiter a couple nights ago, but tonight’s the main night for them. Tonight I saw a little flash that direction tonight that might have been another. I could, in theory, sit in a chair in J’s upper room and face that direction comfortably, but then I’d be too annoyed by our street’s one streetlight, so I guess I won’t.

The Perseids are easier to watch, that’s for sure.

Update. I went back out at 1:30 a.m. and saw maybe three more flashes or dashes of light, maybe four. All very close to Jupiter. I wonder why the Leonids are so much less dramatic than the Perseids, which are more likely to make great streaks across the sky? Is it related to the weather, or just part of their usual nature? I might not have ever seen them before, because it’s usually cloudy or rainy in mid-November. And since the alternative, what we have now, is standing around in 27 degrees, I may not repeat this soon.
