Long day: Artstravaganza

Today was the annual school arts fundraiser During my usual weekly volunteer shift at the library, I found myself coloring in the stenciled drawings of alphabet letters for the auction – they were an “Old English” style that made them hard to read but fun to color. Then, an hour later, I was shopping in the auction – I bought a set of glass coasters (I’d admired them the two previous years but hadn’t bid enough) and a tote bag in spring/summer colors that exactly matched the outfit I was wearing today.
Two hours later, I picked D. up from his dad’s and got him fed and dressed in “concert black” and delivered him to the school – the jazz band performed during the dinner, then before the big event, then during the big event, and he’s also in the regular advanced band, which had its own performance. I came back here and met J, then we went to the school for the dinner (excellent pasta and store-bought pizza) and watched D’s performance while we ate.
Then we brought J. back here, and finally I headed back to the school and sat through the hour-and-a-half-long main event. Fortunately, our school’s bands are very good, as good as many high school bands, and the musical numbers from Annie were entertaining, and the art history lesson about Diego Rivera and Frida Kahlo was amusing and brief. I’m so worn out now – not enough sleep last night, plus a cold – but at least it’s better than D. must feel after playing for nearly an hour and a half while quite congested.
