Now the power company has decided to shut off the electricity to our neighborhood for _four hours_ this evening, for “system upgrades.” Maybe they need to do this in order to restore power to some of the houses that lost it in the storm, but if that’s the case, why wouldn’t they just say so? I’d be a lot more sympathetic. Even so, I don’t see why they have to do it during “prime time,” as it were. Why not wait until after midnight? What a nuisance. Even the Safeway has to shut down. I guess we'll be reading by flashlight.
