My NIH proposal got an “impact/priority” score of 37, which is somewhere between “excellent” and “very good”... but it only got a 30th percentile rating, where they fund between the 1st and 16th percentile.

Since this was my second try, I'll have to make it “substantively different” if I want to do it again, and even if they love it when I submit it at the next available time, I wouldn't get the funding until fall. This may get interesting, household budget-wise.
