Le week-end

I had the notion of getting a lot of work done this weekend, as
fractal9091 was off at StellarCon, which meant fewer recreational distractions. I did get a fair amount done, but my ambitions had been a bit further-reaching.
Yesterday, though, I went to a concert! Catacoustic Consort (Annalisa Pappano and Joanna Blendulf) performed a variety of baroque pieces for the pardessus de viole. This instrument, a hybrid of the viola da gamba and the violin, was popular among French noblewomen before the Revolution. Many of the pieces were adaptations of opera arias. The concert was in Gerlinger Lounge, a rather intimate setting, and I had excellent views both of the performers and the rain softly falling on the trees outside.
Later in the day, R. and I watched the first episode of Castle, which we liked (it's reminisicent of Moonlighting, but with amusing and yummy Nathan Fillion from Firefly). At night, I watched The Third Man, which was amazing visually, but left me unmoved. A thriller can't be thrilling if you don't care what happens to the characters, as far as I'm concerned. I might watch more TV tonight.
