It's official - a sea otter has been spotted in Depoe Bay, on the Oregon coast, the first in 103 years! California and Washington both have sea otters, but Oregon's are long gone. Depoe Bay is a long way from Washington and even farther from California, so this is pretty exciting. Apparently we need sea otters to keep the sea urchins in check.

Register-Guard story.

If you're curious, Oregon's main marine mammal is the sea lion. Not as cute as sea otters!
