Election Update: Breaking News!

eve_primeD. was following the CNN broadcast with much interest, so I undertook to explain the difference between presidents, governors, and senators. R. spoke up with an analogy about student body presidents, class leaders, and class representatives. It turns out that D. understood that analogy very well, because... last week he had been one of the two kids in his class elected to the school's student council! He hadn't realized we'd be interested to hear about it.
Meanwhile, of course: Obama. We are thrilled. This is HUGE. It's hard to fathom the magnitude. We don't expect miracles; to a large degree, we expect business as usual. Even so. Even so. It's like the Berlin Wall coming down. I was in tears. And beyond the significance of this election, there is also the fact that, as R. keeps saying, "The nightmare is over!!!"
