Hopping > flying > scuttling

A follow-up to last night's cicada post.

fractal9091: I've never had a live cicada on my hand before
fractal9091: I thought it was interesting
fractal9091: well, I'm not sure that it even HAD a mouth, so all I really had to worry about was getting cut by the legs
fractal9091: (which has happened to me with grasshoppers and crickets, their legs can be serrated)
eve_prime: ow
eve_prime: I don't hold grasshoppers or crickets either
eve_prime: crickets are too creepy looking
fractal9091: the black ones?
eve_prime: although I sure like grasshoppers
fractal9091: the black ones are cute
eve_prime: yeah
eve_prime: they look too much like a cross, as david put it, between a beetle and a bee
fractal9091: they're shiny and black and they hop
eve_prime: *shiver*
fractal9091: how is that not cute
fractal9091: beetles are cute too, btw
fractal9091: but they don't hop
fractal9091: they scuttle, which really isn't as good
fractal9091: hopping is way cuter than flying
fractal9091: that's why rabbits are cuter than, say, bats
fractal9091: (or rats, for that matter, if we're going to compare to scuttling)
