Today I learned that my friend T's younger son, who's finishing his undergraduate degree at the University of New Mexico, had been accepted to our local university's PhD program in theoretical physics, but the university has now withdrawn its offer because they're not confident they'll be able to sustain the funding for it! Thanks to our "leader" we no longer support advanced sciences. GAH.
