A surprisingly good Tuesday
Feb. 4th, 2025 11:51 pmI really did only four things of note today, but they were all worthwhile, and the first shifted my mood away from the latest federal antics, which helped a lot, giving me energy for the rest of it. That was a talk by Patty Krawec, the author of Becoming Kin, which I read recently. Everyone was very enthusiastic about her talk about doing good in the world under adverse conditions and the interconnectedness of our work. She has another book coming out in the fall. After going home and eating, I then went to the Delgani concert. My friend S enthusiastically joined me, which made me very happy, since I was baffled and distracted at the October concert when she sat elsewhere. She assured me that if she'd seen me then she would have sat with me then too. We had a fine conversation and also made a new friend, a woman sitting in front of us who told me about her personal method for reading tarot, which has been her profession in recent years, although it sounds like she's retired now and is also undergoing cancer treatment. We enjoyed the concert focused on Beethoven's Opus 130, which I liked much more in person than I had livestreamed on Sunday. Then J and I did a very big grocery shopping excursion, as he was nearly out of food, and then I read a bunch of the rather challenging book I've been reading. Now it's time to go read the last 20 pages! I'll write it up tomorrow.
