Book completed

The Order War, by L.E. Modesitt, Jr. Recluce #4. I feel ambivalent about this one. On the one hand, Justen and his life are interesting. But on the other hand, even though one could make a case for eliminating all of the white wizards of Candar, surely destroying the entire city they lived in was excessive? Justen even lured them all outside the city before he unleashed his magic laser weapon, so there was no call for killing thousands of non-wizard people too. I wonder if backlash against this story led to Modesitt's later habit of relying on magical assassination to solve his narrative problems.
