I had fun earlier in the day - library books were due so I drove downtown, and once I was there I found I was in the mood for looking in bookstores, now that Christmas is past and I'm allowed to buy myself things again. I spent some time in the manga/graphic novel store, but that's not really my thing, so I kept going until I got to the one that always has great window displays. I ended up buying a history of the Kalapuya people, who lived (and still live) in our valley (their valley) before my ancestors arrived - it's by Kalapuya anthropologist David Lewis, whom I've seen speak a couple of times.

It was too foggy to spend time outside, but I had fun rewatching last year's Christmas special for All Creatures Great and Small. Siegfried wants to spare Tristan the experience of war, but Tristan is determined to stand on his own in the world, and meanwhile Mrs Hall realizes she does have feelings for the man she's been spending time with.

The evening has been more of an adventure than I want, as it was laundry day (postponed from Sunday), and the dryer broke in the middle of the project. I got the small load of light-colored things dry, but it took twice as long as usual. The next load (D's darks) was spinning around for two hours and didn't get dry, though it did get warm. Eventually I gave up and strung a line through one of J's extra bedrooms, where I hung up D's darks. J's darks are now draped on random things in his bedroom, and mine are back in my own house. *sigh* So tiring.
