Day 902: Back to school
Sep. 7th, 2022 11:59 pmD's planning to take two classes this fall, the next one in the series he's doing and also the first foundational class in computer science. It won't let him register for the latter class, though, because of a math prerequisite - a level of math he took in high school. He hasn't taken any math in college. So today, because he was busy and I was heading out on errands anyway, I went to the high school to see if they could print me a copy of his transcript. I realized belatedly that I was arriving at the school within about 10 minutes of the school day ending, which is always dramatic in terms of traffic. And I realized even more belatedly that today was apparently the first day of school! I had to wait in line behind several students who wanted to change their classes; I think the counseling office secretary was pleased that my problem was one she could quite easily solve. Now we'll have to wait a week, maybe, to find out if he gets the okay.
The weather was quite lovely today - warm but not hot, with a strong breeze. It would be terrible weather if we had any local wildfires, but we do not. In fact - knock on wood - we've only had that one day where it was too smoky for anyone to want to spend much time outside.
This evening J. and DG went to play Magic, as they do on Wednesday evenings, but they were the only two to show up at the store, which had been offering a relatively expensive format this time. So... they went out to dinner and got Mongolian barbecue! J has now tried both of the local Mongolian barbecue restaurants. He thought this one (on the west side of town, the opposite side from the game store) was just fine.
