Day 849: Low-key Friday
Jul. 15th, 2022 11:51 pmWe are impressed with the skill of J's surgeons - although his shoulder is uncomfortable, it doesn't actually hurt. He just stays still in his comfy chair most of the day and remembers to use his other arm for lifting his giant stein of milk. Today he also managed a bath. He's not allowed to get the bandage wet, so we're going to have a challenge this weekend when we try to wash his hair.
I wanted to see how this World Track & Field event was affecting campus, as they've been telling us to expect vast numbers of visitors, and today was the first day of the event. As it turned out, there was oodles of available parking at 5:30 pm, at least on the west side of campus, and very few people walking about. I walked over closer to the stadium and heard the crowd roaring about something, but again, very few pedestrians. Maybe it's too early for the crowds, or maybe it won't be that big a deal after all.
This week's Friday movie was Pitch Black, which turned out to be the first Riddick movie. It barely beat The Fifth Element, one of my favorites, in the voting. It was not a good movie, but we didn't mind watching it, to my surprise. It was so monochromatic (mostly ugly yellow, not black) that I really missed the beautiful Fifth Element colors, though.
