Day 833: Ambrose to the vet

We are now up to Veterinary Visit #5 for this summer. Yesterday Ambrose was even more languid than usual - he typically alternates between languid and bouncy, and his bounce was gone. We kept him in J's garage over night and took him to the vet this morning. He had a fever and the vet thought "songbird fever" was a likely diagnosis, a form of salmonella poisoning from eating a sick bird. They gave Ambrose an antibiotic and an antiemetic and advised us to keep him indoors until he's well, which could be 24-48 hours or could take a full week. He was so much better 12 hours later that maybe he's already on the mend.
