Day 808: Book completed
Jun. 4th, 2022 11:52 pmThis evening, being rather worn out, I picked up the book we're discussing at book club this week... and pretty much finished it in one go, even though it's a full-length novel, not a novella.
Attachments, by Rainbow Rowell. The genre is presumably "chick lit," and it was pretty entertaining. Alternating chapters are emails between two women who are coworkers and best friends, mostly discussing their personal lives, and the more conventionally narrated story of an IT guy whose job (this is 1999) was to read through any emails flagged as potentially violating company rules. He gradually falls in love with one of the two, with no idea what she looks like, but with the intense ethical awkwardness of knowing from her emails that she's very much attracted to him.
The main other thing I did today, besides lots of housework, was that J. and I went shopping for our friends whose abrupt COVID onset left them without all the lozenges, tea, lemons, orange juice, and tissues they need to get through the next five days comfortably.
Yet another rainy weekend, after lovely, sunny, weekdays!
