Sorin (dark-colored tabby) and his brother Ajani (white) live in the main room in my house - a relatively large room that encompasses the entryway, livingroom, dining area, and kitchen; they also have access to the hallway bathroom, for their litterbox. It's not a lot of space, but they seem contented, generally.

Except... in the past few days, Sorin has been meowing very loudly and insistently. He seems healthy - eating fine, good energy - but the meowing has been getting on our nerves. Yesterday (Sunday) he managed to wake D. up around 8 a.m. (after 4-5 hours of sleep, so that wasn't great), even though D. almost always sleeps through whatever noise the cats make.

Our theory was fleas. I was a bit behind on the flea medicine, so I dosed them both up (and two of the younger cats, who mostly live in the extra bedroom). I also combed all five indoor cats. The younger cats didn't have many fleas (thankfully, as poor Ginevra is allergic to them), but Ajani and Sorin had impressive numbers of them.

A few hours later, though, Sorin was again meowing very loudly.

Then I realized something. On Saturday I'd vacuumed, inspiring Ajani to go curl up behind the TV, where Sorin had joined him in the evening. Now, on Sunday night, Sorin was in his usual perch near the bedrooms, and Ajani was nowhere to be seen. Apparently Sorin had lost track of him and had forgotten about the spot behind the TV. I carried Sorin over there and showed him Ajani, and the house was blessedly silent for hours, even after the cats had gone their separate ways again.

He's been relatively quiet today, too, so maybe the flea treatment is also helping. Poor silly dear.
