Day 768: And another early music concert
Apr. 24th, 2022 11:54 pmFor the final day of this year's Musicking conference, we had a concert with the theme of "Sacred Music in Baroque Naples." I was expecting it to be entirely organ pieces, but only three were; the others were strings plus, sometimes, vocalists. It was a fine concert, somewhat Easter-themed, but the concert was at the back of the room (the organ is at the rear, overhead, and there's space up there for the rest of the musicians), and the seating was wooden pews facing forwards. This meant we could either twist around to watch the musicians, or face forward away from them. Most people did the latter. I tried to face the musicians when there were singers, but I couldn't sustain it. Anyway, it was a lovely spring day, and when I left the concert, it felt quite peaceful.
J. and I read together in the sunshine for a bit, and I made spaghetti and watched a PBS show about Bach. It was good to have a day off.
