Book completed
Apr. 15th, 2022 07:17 pmThe Cloud Roads, by Martha Wells. This was my reread of the first of the Raksura books. Having recently finished the series, now I'm going back and reading it more carefully so I can enjoy the settings and characters more. I like these very much.
Moon is a young man who has lived in a variety of "groundling" communities, in a world with many such earthbound species. And he can pass for a groundling - but unlike everyone else he's lived with, he can also shapeshift into something rather more like a dragon. And since there's a particularly sociopathic species that look very much like his flying form, this is something he needs to keep quiet. Then one day he finds out what species he really is, and now he has to decide if he can join them - that is, if they want him.
Martha's bachelor's degree in anthropology really shines through in this series. It's quite fun.
