I have J. to thank for that analogy. I was sorting through three vases of flowers, trying to remove the most scented, which were surely the gorgeous white lilies, but when I was done I found that my thumbs and first two fingers were scented, probably enough to interfere with sleep. (I'm sensitive to fragrance, and I sleep with my hands right next to my face. It never occurred to me to put on gloves first.)

So I washed my hands a bunch. It didn't help. Then I remembered that great Gojo product that I use to get stains off the laundry - it also did a great job of improving D's bedroom carpet when he knocked over a bowl of Korean ramen, with its bright orange seasoning. My understanding is that it was designed for auto mechanics to wash up when their day's work is done, so I figured it would be fine on hands. And it doesn't have added fragrance, and I've never noticed it on my clothes after doing the laundry. So I dipped my fingers in and left them like that for about 15 minutes before washing them.

The flower scent is gone, but now my hands smell quite a lot like a freshly opened jar of Gojo!

Let's see, its ingredients are... C13-14 isoparaffin, white mineral oil, "Alcohols, C11-14-iso-, C13-rich, ethoxylated," propylene glycol, petrolatum (which I recognize as vaseline), sodium hydroxymethylglycinate, water, oleic acid, and sodium hydroxide. That doesn't tell me a whole lot.

I guess since I'll be up a few more hours, it might wear off?
