A rather brutal, but good, mystery set on the Isle of Lewis in the Outer Hebrides of Scotland, and on an even more remote island a bit north of that, An Sgeir (which is a fictional version of Sula Sgeir, a real island that is also mentioned in the book). Edinburgh police officer Fin Macleod is called to help investigate a murder in the island community where he grew up, but the roots of what happened were part of his childhood.
Today when I woke I was annoyed and concerned that my phone, which had failed to charge itself any higher than two bars yesterday, was back down to one bar. I turned it all the way off, opened the case, lifted out the battery, and blew out a bit of dust, then reinstalled the battery and it charged just fine. Meanwhile, as soon as I'd blown out the dust I started to sneeze, and now, many hours later, I'm still sneezy... but I think I actually have a cold. Blah. J. got us Thai food for dinner, which was a great treat.
