Day 172: My weird elbow
Sep. 2nd, 2020 11:40 pmI'm feeling happier about my elbow now that I've "researched" it a bit further. Based on the location, my guess is that it's tendinitis of a type called "golfer's elbow." It doesn't hurt, which is great, and if I don't aggravate it, it should get better on its own.
This time of the year, I have to do a lot of watering, and there are some plants I want to keep alive that aren't convenient to reach with the hose - like the rhododendron on the far side of the native oak in the front yard. The easiest way to get water there is to fill up a bucket and carry it there. But the bucket definitely holds more than a gallon (probably three gallons?), and I see that each gallon of water weighs more than 8 lbs, and maybe multiple gallons of water are more than my tendons want to deal with? I'd been carrying the bucket in my right hand, but my right shoulder lost a bit of mobility recently, so I started carrying the water with my left hand, and perhaps this is the result.
It's the time of year that the tendinitis in my right hand flares up a bit, so it's only fair, I guess, to let the left arm have a turn too.
When Z. and I were talking yesterday, I commented that the only actual problem I could envision for the lump in my arm is that if I had to do left-handed archery, I wouldn't be happy (the bump would get in the way). So that's today's icon, Kagome from Inuyasha doing left-handed archery.
