Day 162: Beard be gone!
Aug. 23rd, 2020 11:59 pmToday was the final day of J's excessive, quarantine-inspired beard experiment. He normally has a nice, trim beard and mustache, but he had fun growing them as much as they could grow. Since he's going to get his driver's license renewal in three weeks, though, he wants a haircut first, and he decided to do the beard before the haircut, which I think he's going to try to find out how to do tomorrow.
(I'd kind of rather he didn't, but I'm not qualified to cut his hair, and he'll be stuck with the photo for eight years, so... Also, he likes to use his driver's license photo as a guideline for the stylist when he gets a haircut.)
Anyway! This afternoon we had fun photographing the beard and hair, in a variety of settings around the yard, and one indoor angle too. He wore his black "wizard" tunic while wielding his sword in some of the photos, and his wizard cloak and staff in others, and then there were some in just a regular t-shirt.
Then he did the shaving, sitting in a chair on the lawn with D's bedroom wall mirror resting on another chair, using his electric razor. I think he imagined a big mess if he did it in the bathroom, and this way I could easily give feedback on symmetry.
I have to say, it looks so much better now! With it all long-ish and scruffy, I think he looked more like a frontier preacher than a swordsman or a wizard.
