Day Twenty: "InnovAsian"
Apr. 2nd, 2020 10:39 pmFor the first part of the day, I interacted with my Facebook condolences and worked on assembling a list of all of my great many Feelings about my mom.
Then I took D. to Safeway to get him some more food for lunch. He's concluded he needs more variety, and his tastes are so limited, and I thought it would be nice to replicate his usual campus lunch, which is Panda Express's "Orange Chicken." So we found a brand of frozen food called "InnovAsian" (*ahem*), which has four or five flavors of Asian chicken dishes. It turns out he prefers "General Tso Chicken," so we got a box of that and a box of "Orange Chicken," and also a box of frozen cooked rice so that I didn't also have to teach him how to make rice today. Then he got to expand his repertoire of food prep skills. It was quite the event, involving the toaster oven, the microwave oven, and at least three bowls and two spoons and a spatula, but he thought it tasted fine and he has leftovers for tomorrow.
Also, I had a funny realization yesterday. Ten days ago, I thought I was getting a slight rash on the skin of my throat; it was uniformly itchy and I couldn't figure out why. I'd wondered about poison oak, but instead of developing lines of definite rash, it just got dry and less itchy. Then last night, while J. was telling me about his work day, I realized that the skin there was now extra soft and smooth... and it struck me that I must have very slightly burnt it with steam when I'd opened the dishwasher mid-cycle. Not a rash at all.
Also, out of the blue I got a very nice check from the place I've been consulting for. I hadn't even sent them an invoice, let alone for this much.
