Blah the car

So the mechanic kept my car all weekend, with the idea that this morning it would have sat long enough to have the starting problem. I thought the plan was to keep it out in the elements; it seems the problem has to do with the car being cold, because once it's started it will start the next time too. But they kept it indoors over the weekend, and it started just fine for them.

Unfortunately, I can't park the car indoors, or maybe the problem would be solved. Maybe they'll figure it out tomorrow...

Meanwhile, I wanted to get my bill payments to the post office, so I walked. It's a 3-minute drive and a 15-minute walk, but that walk includes a moderately steep hill, and either I'm surprisingly out of shape or, I don't know, getting sick? Anyway, I was quite worn out by the walk.

Afterwards, I went to Safeway and was delighted to see my neighbor Hiram at the Starbucks. A few days ago he'd been taken away to the hospital in an emergency vehicle, and we (neighbors and I) had been quite concerned, but it was "just" pneumonia and he's fine now. He's not all that old (66? 67?), but life has been hard for him (Vietnam vet, etc.).
