Little rascal
Jan. 3rd, 2020 10:23 pmJean-Luc is an extremely high-energy kitten, and quite the imp. Last week's "toys" were the used q-tips he would find in D's bathroom trash - he'd grab one and run, with Ginevra huddling over it with him like a very naughty child with contraband on the corner of a playground. Since he tended to hold them in his mouth tip-first rather than across the stick part, this struck me as quite dangerous, and he has lost his access to these treasures.
This afternoon, when I let them out of their room for their morning play period, Jean-Luc and Ginevra dashed out, as usual, and Sorin came in to sit with Geordi. We don't know if Sorin is actually interested in Geordi's company or if he realizes that when that door is open, the kittens' room is the least likely place to have to encounter Jean-Luc, whose dashings about are stressful for the older cats. I fed the kittens, changed their water, cleaned their litter, cuddled a bit with Geordi, and then set about coralling the other two cats so I could shut the door again. I wasn't entirely sure where Ajani was, so I went out to the livingroom to see, and abruptly Jean-Luc and Ginevra dashed past me, back into the bedroom.
I thought, great, now all I have to do is remove Sorin, and we're set. (Otherwise, getting Ginevra back in there can be a fair amount of work, whereas Jean-Luc is always happy to be picked up.) So I went back in and discovered that Jean-Luc had some new treasure, which he was carrying in a triumphant circuit around the base of the rocking chair. I thought at first glance it was the new collar I'd bought for Parker but never put on him, then Jean-Luc stepped out into the open and I could see his great prize... D's glasses. Oops!
The mechanics haven't yet ascertained what's wrong with my car, as it started up fine this morning for them. Bah - at least the guy who was there to receive it yesterday evening did experience the problem I had. They're going to keep it 'til Monday and see if leaving it sitting around over the weekend will let them replicate the problem.
Today was sunny and moderately warm, like 60 degrees, and the forecast had called for 100% chance of rain starting abruptly at 8 p.m., which was later changed to 11 p.m. We are certainly on track for that, with roaring winds in the trees, starting an hour or so ago. J. and I are reading, while listening to the soundtrack from Ori and the Blind Forest. He's got his newest Order of the Stick book, and I was reading Franz Fanon's The Wretched of the Earth and am about to switch to a Louise Penny book.
