Audition day II
Jun. 4th, 2019 11:56 pmToday was the second day of the auditions (bass, viola, and lots of cello), and that all went smoothly. Before that, though, I got to "teach" some 4th and 5th graders to play violin and cello. Seriously, I didn't do any teaching, I was just nominally in charge because Mary, the person qualified to teach them otherwise except for her age and inexperience, is only 13. The class started with confusion, because the room we're supposed to meet in had been scheduled for something else! So we ended up in the school library. Mary did pretty well at teaching, but after a while her mom jumped in and took over, lectured the kids about the importance of practicing, and rigorously pushed them through the song until I suggested to Mary that the class time had ended. Oh well. I guess they'll appreciate their regular teacher all the more. And my life now returns to normal until Saturday, the final audition day.
