A concert for Mom
Apr. 19th, 2018 11:48 pmD's clarinet teacher had him play his full concerto piece just for me today. This time he ran out of breath just at the very last note and not before it. So my recording is more complete than the old one!
After that, I went to the Arts After Hours event, which I've now attended four years in a row, each time in a different location. I hadn't been in the Shedd concert hall before, so that was fun. While there, I spoke with my friend from the youth orchestras, who thought D. should have won district, because although he ran out of air at the end of his piece, the other student played his dramatic piece much too meekly. Apparently he got bonus points for choosing a more difficult piece, though.
I'd been sick all week - it was great to have a bit more energy today, and the weather was beautiful. I had fun walking around downtown.
Meanwhile, J's company is being reorganized, and his supervisor was abruptly promoted, and his team was abruptly moved to a different department, which he's more skeptical about. Fortunately he has multiple options, and maybe it will work out just fine without any great effort on his part.
