Red Panda Film Festival!
Apr. 12th, 2018 11:55 pmToday I went to the Red Panda Film Festival! The US branch of the group that works in Nepali villages to improve the survival rates of red pandas has recently relocated to Eugene, and today they had a packed "film festival" in a local theater. Two of the films were short and not great, but one was 52 minutes and professionally made; it definitely felt like something you'd see on Nature.
I also did a revision of Paper No.2 (no more hash-marks for me, silly LJ). And I went to a pair of talks at the Musicking conference and then to a standing-room-only concert in the evening, with a fabulous recorder player, beyond what anyone would think a recorder could do. I arrived half an hour late because of the red pandas and sat in the hallway with about seven others; later I heard that when the concert started there were so many people that they asked for volunteers to come back at 9 pm because the artists were willing to do the whole thing all over again to accommodate everyone.
