Georg Wilhelm Steller

Again I worked on the proposal for long hours; I was also sick, so I didn't so much mind the tedium of inputting stuff into the new forms they've added. I did slip out for 40 minutes, though, to visit a symposium the Russian dept. at the UO was having. One of the speakers is a graphic novelist who's doing a series about the life of Georg Wilhelm Steller, a naturalist who visited Alaska with the Russians. Our Steller jay and the Steller sea lion are named for him. I bought the book, but there wasn't much nature in it after all, unfortunately. Maybe that will come in the later volumes.
