Guardians of the Galaxy, vol. 2

Tonight we watched another Marvel film. This one was fine except formulaic. I do have four reasons to like the soundtrack, which I hadn't expected to find interesting at all.

1. "Brandy." I had just been telling J. about this song, and now he's heard it properly.


2. That Fleetwood Mac song, "Break the Chain" or whatever it's called - I've always liked it.


3. It was fun to recognize two songs from the 70s that I had definitely known back then, but that I really probably had not heard since: "Southern Nights" and that "Wham Bam Shang-a-Lang" song, whatever it was. Pretty inconsequential, so it was kind of delightful to have them reappear after all this time.


4. "Flash Light"! I've loved that song since high school. My friends had this one album of collected disco music, and nearly all of it was very insipid, very white stuff... but then there was one song that was altogether different: "Flash Light" in all its ethnic funk glory. We had regular dance parties and I always pestered our host to play "Flash Light." Good old "Flash Light."
