I didn't want to start a new fiction book tonight, because my copy of Vallista (the new Dragaera book) arrives on Saturday and I need to be available to read it. So instead I'm reading a book highly recommended by D's clarinet teacher, A Walk in the Woods by Bill Bryson.

During the first pages, I was very conscious of how C. had mentioned laughing out loud a lot while reading it, and how she loves to read it again and again. The various blurbs were saying much the same and I kept being distracted while reading, noting that the writing style was pretty amusing, but nowhere near the laugh-out-loud threshold, and wondering if this was as funny as it would be. But by page 24, I was reading bits to J, about bear attacks, and yes, very shortly thereafter I was indeed laughing out loud. And he was too. Great to unwind with.
