The downside to not using tax software like every sensible American does is that sometimes you make a mistake for several years in a row, like not realizing that the "state taxes paid" in the itemized deductions includes both state taxes withheld for the year in question and state taxes paid in April for the previous year. Bah.
So when I realized this back in April, that meant I had several years to amend (I'd overpaid), and I filed the extension for 2016's taxes so I wouldn't have to bother with it. Today I bothered with it and did a bunch of tax forms. Tomorrow I'll print and copy them all and then apply myself to last year's state taxes - at this point I can't remember whether I'm getting a refund or paying tax plus late penalty.
I woke for the day with a headache and still have a cold as well, so needless to say I didn't get anything else done, beyond finishing Falcon at the Portal, in the Amelia Peabody series.
