Pre-birthday countdown

I did a bunch of tidying today, and I made the dough for D's birthday pie. It was frustrating to learn that R. was yet again not going to be able to spend his normal time with D, and also that instead he had decided to take D. out for a birthday dinner, pre-empting my plans to do a birthday dinner. But it's good for D. to get to see his dad.
