Cold War propaganda
Mar. 18th, 2017 10:56 pmD. intends to write his senior essay on Cold War propaganda, so today I took him to the university and public libraries to collect books on the topic. He's lucky to have a mom who can find anything in those libraries so efficiently - we spent barely an hour on the project, despite looking at books on all three floors of the main university library stacks, and the time to drive between the libraries. Now we have 16 books about the Red Menace and Soviet posters and such. Some of the books are actual propaganda pamphlets, which is cool.
He then spent the evening in his friend's mom's realty office, playing Magic, while J. and I ate dinner at the First National Taphouse downtown. Two guys played a Grateful Dead song on guitars for "open mic night," with Top Gun amusingly on the TV screen nearby.
