At tonight's school concert, the string ensemble teacher announced all of her students that had been to the solo-ensemble competition, and then the three who had qualified for State. But the band teacher didn't! It's the tradition. I was looking forward to glowing with pride. On the other hand, I knew D. would hate having attention called to him like that.

So! If the band teacher was being considerate and had asked D. if he minded and then decided not to because D. said he'd rather he didn't, that would have been fine. But if he just didn't do it because he was flaky, that would not. That's my maternal position, anyway.
