Deadpool = nope
Dec. 29th, 2016 11:58 pmJ. was interested in watching Deadpool, so I found it on the on-demand and we started watching it with dinner. I lasted only 17 minutes, including the HBO trailer. I couldn't see the point to steeling myself to accommodate that much brutality. J. wasn't having the visceral reaction I was, but he wasn't finding it worthwhile either, so we stopped. Oh well. From looking online, I understand that it has a plot buried somewhere underneath all that callous gore.
Meanwhile, the most amusing instruction from D's clarinet teacher today was, "Opposite of a guillotine." She wanted his notes in a particular passage to fade out, rather than being chopped off abruptly as in the nun-execution scene in the opera she's rehearsing for ("Dialogues of the Carmelites").
Yes, let's have the opposite of a guillotine, and an opposite of Deadpool as well.
