Tiptree Symposium
Dec. 3rd, 2016 09:24 pmToday I arrived in time only for the final event, a keynote speech by Brian Attebery, an apparently very readable scholar of fantasy and science fiction. He is also a great speaker, and I hope his talk will be published online. (Others were saying the same thing!) Then we had an hour with an open mike on thoughts about how to keep doing this event in future years. I also bought a big stack of books! I'm hoping to try to make time to help out for next year - I don't have time to spare, really, but this community is important.
D. is sick, with his third cold in three or four weeks (he does get better in between them, or I'd say he was _still_ sick). He doesn't have the energy or will to practice the difficult Shostakovich thing he needs for the concert. Meanwhile, J. is making plans to attend his grandma's services in the L.A. area, mid-week.
I have lots to do, but it's tempting to start reading my seven new books...
