Myrmecophobia

New word for the day: fear of ants. D. is also not thrilled with crabs (kabourophobia). The ants haven't been too bad in the kitchen yet this winter, but they are definitely plaguing the area near the front door where he keeps his backpack and shoes. When it was time to go to Junior Orchestra rehearsal this evening, there were at least a dozen little ants under his shoes, which led to a concern that some might be inside the shoes, which in turn led to visions of ants actually living somewhere in the soles of his shoes. Poor D. We have the shoes shut in a box right now, so that we can verify that no ants have crawled out to find food, ergo no ants are living in the shoes... I hope.
