Another music week
Jan. 12th, 2016 10:16 pmWe’re listening to D. practice for All State. Ajani is essentially sleeping through it, but Sorin cannot bear the high notes and is trying to hide in the large sheet of brown paper that my recently reframed art print was wrapped in. He has two more days to practice after today.
We got good news today – our youth orchestra office has finally found a new home. We get courtesy space from the school district, but the building we’ve been in since before D. was in Kindermusik has been sold to a charter school, and with Oregon’s move this year to full-day kindergarten, it’s been very hard to find another school with enough space that we could move there. I had suggested the now-empty building that had housed the French immersion elementary school, but the district didn’t want us in an empty space. Today, though, they changed their mind, and this school was the one they chose. It’s right next to my favorite wildflower trail, with the tiny waterfalls and the calypso orchids. We can stay there at least through the summer, and by then it may be feasible to move into D’s high school.
