Year-end nuisance, year-end nice
Dec. 31st, 2015 11:58 pmSo today I was surprised to find the trunk of my car open, and then it turned out that someone had gone through the glove compartment and the middle compartment of the interior of the car too, and dumped a bunch of stuff onto the seat. They didn’t take anything obvious – they left the jar of quarters, the registration, probably all of the cassette tapes, and the library books, along with the various papers and stuff I had in the back seat. The most bothersome part, other than the sense of violation, was that they didn’t shut at least one of the doors properly and now the battery is dead. I didn’t want to bother the AAA guy on New Year’s Eve so J. drove us to D’s sleepover.
We had a nice evening after that. J. was already dressed nicely for work and added a tie, and I added a dark rose shawl-thing to my own outfit to be festive too. We made fondue, then we sat by the fireplace and listened to his new CD of Final Fantasy music, then I read a bit (the second novelization of the Girl Genius comics), then we looked at the photos from his Chicago trip on the big TV screen. I’m wondering how long it will take to break myself of the odd habit I seem to have developed of calling the new year 20,016.
