We were going to go to the Star Party to look at the eclipse through the fancy telescopes, but we were busy doing the cats’ birthday party, and then we were tired, so we just looked at it from the front walk at my house and later from the front porch at Jonathan’s. The interesting bit would have been when the first real sliver of light reappeared, but we were in Safeway buying milk and AA batteries when that happened.

I went to a concert in a mausoleum with great acoustics, but it was pretty crowded, and I was in the youngest 10% of the people there, even counting the musicians and the wheelchair users’ attendants. The group was Ensemble Primo Seicento – two baroque trombones, a baroque violin, a harpsichord, and a woodwind that I can’t remember the name of. The violinist was quite good; the same wasn’t true for all of the others.

J&D played two-headed giant in the pre-release for the new MtG set, Battle for Zendikar. They went 4-0 and won 20 packs. J. saves his indefinitely (or at least until we draft with them), while D. prefers to open his to see what’s inside. He opened a bunch this evening; he let me open two of them for him. In the second one I opened for him, we found a foil Hallowed Fountain, which is worth $130-150 retail!
