Idle thoughts; deeper thoughts
Sep. 17th, 2015 09:57 pmHm. I find that I’m watching Laverne and Shirley with the sound off, with closed captioning. I’m not sure why it’s on the TV. Anyway, every time I look at Michael McKean as Lenny I remember how surprised I was when I discovered that he was actually very good looking, especially when he was a bit older than that. (That is, he looks okay now, but he’s no Harrison Ford or Sean Connery.)
D. surprised me. Last night he asked me a discussion question for his humanities class, and my answer was the opposite of what he thought and what he had expected me to say. Today after school, he told me about the discussion they’d had in class, and it turned out that overnight he’d changed his mind entirely. It wasn’t that he adopted my position because it was my position, but the fact that I’d had a different answer ended up prompting him to give it more thought, and he came around to my perspective. I think that’s kind of rare for an opinionated teenager.
