Summer preoccupations
Jul. 5th, 2015 09:58 pmThere's at least two very dangly sorts of wasps that are building nests inside the walls around J's front door. One of them carries bits of dried grass and tries to pull them through the space between the door frame and the siding, but often fails, so there's now a big tuft of grass growing there. J. doesn't really want to tolerate sharing his house with wasps, so we bought some poison, but we haven't used it yet. Today he tried a non-toxic alternative -- he bought a shop-vac and tried taping it up to the house, to suck them out. He read about it on the web somwhere. No luck yet.
Meanwhile, D. spent the afternoon in a water-gun battle with two of his female friends on an otherwise unused playground. Good weather for it -- warm enough to dry them off quickly, but not so hot that dashing about was a problem.
