Venus, if you will
Jun. 13th, 2015 11:58 pmThe planet Venus has been so dramatic in the evening sky that it keeps puzzling me that so few people are remarking on it. My sister did; that's about it. I like to keep glancing over at Venus when I walk at twilight, although it seems rather unsophisticated that I should be so attracted to the flashiest thing up there. Sometimes I think about the contrast between the beauty we see of Venus from Earth, and the hellish conditions on the planet itself. Other times I think it would be fun to reread the Edgar Rice Burroughs "Pirates of Venus" series again -- much more high tech than the Mars or Pellucidar books, so the variety is fun.
