Nov. 4th, 2014 07:48 pmLast week, D. was thinking that his NaNoWriMo story could be about some hillbilly family doing something in an underground shelter, I think escaping from “The Birds,” and it turned out he hadn’t heard of The Beverly Hillbillies. So we sang the theme song for him, then had him watch the opening credits on YouTube. But then it turned out that J. hadn’t ever seen the actual show!
So yesterday I’d found a non-HD channel has Perry Mason on twice daily (a potential substitute for my usual HD channel, which has now embarked on a 1300-hour marathon of Christmas movies, yikes). And then I got around to taking a look at this new channel’s other listings of “classic television” shows. Sure enough, they have the Beverly Hillbillies!
So now D&J have both seen an episode of Beverly Hillbillies. Granny thought she’d become a seer and hoped it would enhance her reputation back home, while Jethro was hoping to make good use of a Genuine Simulated Plastic Crystal Ball.
What’s next? I don’t think we can bear to watch tonight’s episode, in which Granny will attempt to surgically conduct the first-ever head transplant. But I see that the channel also has Petticoat Junction...
