Yikes! Closer to tragedy than I knew!
Apr. 23rd, 2014 08:39 pmSo it turns out my step-brother was running in the Boston Marathon last year during the bombing! How embarrassing that my family has such poor communication that I had no idea. I guess that now that our parents aren’t in the picture, nobody is all that motivated to keep in touch? My sister, at least, had wondered if he’d been affected (I’d more or less forgotten that he’s a runner), and she’d sent him a nice note last year, so yesterday he sent me an article about his experiences from his local newspaper and asked me to forward it to her. (She’s not participating in the Information Age.) That’s how I found out. I wrote back, and he said he did finish this year, despite the heat. Go, Michael.
Other news: I won’t be able to get some necessary data to resubmit my QuitPoints proposal in June, which means waiting until October – and which also means I can get paid for writing the proposal, whew. And remember last week when I was super-tired? Today I found out that one of my friends, the librarian at D’s school, was also super-tired last week and also thought maybe it was the pollen, and then on Friday she discovered it was really a noro-virus. More than fifty kids missed school on Monday because of it. So I lucked out with the light version!
