Today is only April 8th, but it was warm enough that we could read outside until 6:30 p.m.! I read a bit for work, and a bit of Assassin’s Apprentice, then after J. arrived from work I switched to the interesting biography of Paracelsus, which has finally gotten to the point of describing the history of alchemy. Given my academic specialization in worldviews, it’s pretty fascinating stuff. J. read outside with me too, starting the second book in that Malazan Book of the Fallen series.
Right now, Face Off is paused halfway through the episode so D. can finish his homework. He’s doing a research project on Jedediah Smith, the famous explorer. I can neither read nor watch J’s online Magic game because I have my contacts in to watch Face Off and the room’s too dark for me to do anything close up. So I’m typing this post.
In other news, Mars finally reappeared in the evening sky, and it looks great. I came rushing inside to see if there’s a star party on Friday, since I don’t think I’ve ever seen Mars through a really good telescope, but nope.
